Why college is important regardless of what people say
Lately, a lot of 'Conservative' types, mainly in the media, have been bashing Universities and Colleges and calling them a Liberal bastion, and although most of them got their degrees, advanced degrees (Limbaugh and possibly Hannity and Beck being the exceptions), they now tell members of their audiences that 'college is not needed'.
Well I'm here to say 'bunk that'.
The best example is 'me'
One of the brightest most creative types on all the planet, but without college, it's all a waste, a total waste, cause without the networks you get to build and form in college, there's no one who sees 'value' in me and what I can, could have, and still can, bring to the table.
People look after their own first, be it family, clubs, organizations, you name it, people look out for thier own first.
So regardless of my creative talent, writing voltage, because I did not finish College, it's meaningless, no one hears it but a few in the alley of life.
And also if you ever hope to be bumped up into management position later on down the road, without college, you'll be automatically excluded from such positions.
You can't even be a probation officer or parole officer, without a 4 year degree, period, at least in the State I reside in.
So looking at my own life, I'd say get that degree, no matter what, get it, even if from some second or 3rd rate college or university, you'll still be looked at different by future employers, doors will open up for you that cannot open up for me.
And with a degree you can still work blue collar if you so chose, but always have the option of becoming more, the more options in life the better.
Never forget that, and that is the more options you have in life, especially as you age, the better your life will be for you and or those you love and care for.
And in closing this post, don't allow snuffy nosed Conservative talk radio hosts to scare you away from college cause my advice is this...
Go to college first, no matter what, then do anything else you want to do after that later!
Wanna drive semi trucks?, fine go to college first and get that degree!
Wanna be a plumber?, fine, go to college first and get that degree!
Wanna be a cashier at Walmart?, fine, go to college first and get that degree!
Wanna be a waitress at Waffle House?, fine, go to college first and get that degree!
And so forth, cause when you get tired of being the above, with that degree, and a few more specialized courses, you can transition into ownership or management where as without degree you're just 'stuck' at current position as a 'as is' employee.
More to follow as time allows.
I'm a caring person is why I share stuff like this, for even though you don't know or even 'like' me, my first nature is to be caring.
